The optimal temperature
A constant even temperature is essential for the health of the roots of your CBD hemp plant. Heat usually becomes a problem if you are working with hydrophonic equipment. This is because heat reduces the oxygen and water supply to the CBD hemp plants. If the temperatures are too cold, however, the risk of your plants withering and thus reducing their growth increases.

The optimal temperature is 22°C. An additional ventilation system is suitable for ensuring the ideal temperature. Depending on the design, this may be expensive, but in the end it prevents a bad harvest.

The pathogens:
Due to all the above mentioned factors, the resistance of the roots of your CBD hemp plants may be reduced. This in turn makes your plants more susceptible to disease. In the following, Cbuy.ch introduces you to the two most common pathogens:

  • Rhizoctonia solani: This fungus species grows in the soil and is more likely to attack seedlings and young plants. By severing the connection between stem and root, it destroys the root system. You can recognize this pathogen by its distinctive white and thin threads. You can tell whether your CBD hemp plants are affected by this disease by the red or brown spots that appear on the stems or leaves. In pots that are over-watered or have a too high temperature, this fungus species feels especially well.
  • Pythium: This fungus genus also poses a danger to your hemp plant, but is more aggressive than Rhizoctonia solani. Fungi of the genus Pythium grow mainly in places where there is a constant circulation of water or air. They are particularly fond of attacking weakened plants and cause mainly stem, cob, seedling and root rot. Pythium infestation results in restricted growth and yellowing of leaves and damaged, slimy roots that turn brownish.

The fight against
Always keep your annexe room and containers clean – this will prevent the above mentioned pathogens from developing and spreading in the first place.

However, the Pythium pathogen can still appear. Therefore it is important that you add the appropriate bacteria to the growing container, as these not only protect your CBD hemp plants from such pathogens, but also build up a connection to the roots and thus increase their capacity to absorb them.

In the following, we will briefly introduce you to the two most effective biological agents for the preventive control of pathogens:

  • Mycorrhiza: This symbiosis of fungus and plant inhabits the root zone of your CBD-hemp plant. By converting the nutrients into more easily absorbable substances, it helps your CBD-hemp plant to absorb nutrients. This allows the roots to absorb nutrients more easily, faster and in larger quantities. This in turn leads to faster and stronger growth of your CBD cannabis plant.
  • Trichoderma: Trichoderma species are relatively common worldwide. They can colonize root zones quickly and control pests quickly and effectively. In addition, they stimulate the root system in such a way that the CBD hemp plants become stronger and more resistant to stress and pests. Due to these abilities they have a special position as root guards in biological pest control.

Very briefly:
The optimal temperature is a decisive factor for the healthy growth of your CBD-hemp plant. If the cultivation conditions are not optimal, your plants can be attacked by various pathogens. Biological pest control is an effective way to protect your CBD hemp plants from infestation by harmful organisms.
